The spaceship took me slowly to the moon to have a look at footprints in the dust it hummed a kind of anniversary tune … technology became the one to trust. I stared out through the portal to the stars the spaceship took me slowly to the moon, too old to journey all the way to Mars I thought I’d better make this trip quite soon. The moonscape looked a bit like Herbert’s ‘Dune’ our landing slot came clearly into view the spaceship took me slowly to the moon along with many other tourists too. And back in ‘sixty-nine was in my teens and watched the scene as if it were a rune which grabbed my mind to wonder what it means: the spaceship took me slowly to the moon.

"our landing slot came clearly into view"
This, for me, speaks volumes of the Space Race, the boastful showing of technological prowess and the resultant traffic jam, if such technophiles would have their way. I admit, that I was captivated by the 1969 moon landing and walk, but I then lost interest when it led to nothing. Notwithstanding all the Jules Verne and Isaac Asimov I read, along with Robert Heinlein.
It is here on Earth that we ought to be spending our energies preserving and protecting what we humans have exploited in our arrogance and domineering ways.
The spaceship took me slowly to the moon….
A beautiful contemplative quatern Josh.
Was that rune a mystery?
All these years later is it still?
What does it all mean? Too old to get to Mars yet too young to forget the trip we still need to take.
The spaceship took me slowly to the moon …
