This, for me, speaks volumes of the Space Race, the boastful showing of technological prowess and the resultant traffic jam, if such technophiles would have their way. I admit, that I was captivated by the 1969 moon landing and walk, but I then lost interest when it led to nothing. Notwithstanding all the Jules Verne and Isaac Asimov I read, along with Robert Heinlein.
It is here on Earth that we ought to be spending our energies preserving and protecting what we humans have exploited in our arrogance and domineering ways.
Yes, the 'space race' ... and for what? Some techno-phallic strutting? Yet it was an iconic moment, impacting on the collective mind. (I was also an Asimov & Heinlein fan). I agree, there's enough repair work to be done here on Mother Earth.
What a great pantoum. That 1969 moonwalk is one of my earliest memories. Have you see the movie called First Man about Neil Armstrong's decade of preparation? It's poignant.
Thank you Shelly. I haven't seen the "First Man" film - I'll check it out [PS: the poem is not a pantoum, although it has similarities; it's a "quatern" poem. I've got a pantoum too tucked away somewhere; I found it really difficult to do].
Yes you're right. I put the audio & picture from the previous poem. Don't know how I managed to do that. Anyway, I think it's fixed now with the right audio which is the same as the words of the poem. I like your understanding of the role of the rune.
"our landing slot came clearly into view"

The spaceship took me slowly to the moon….
A beautiful contemplative quatern Josh.
Was that rune a mystery?
All these years later is it still?
What does it all mean? Too old to get to Mars yet too young to forget the trip we still need to take.
The spaceship took me slowly to the moon …
🙏❤️
Thank you Jamie. I like the way you pick up on lines/themes, and then add your own commentary questions; always interesting to read. 🙏

Well the quatern pattern is very effective. I just learned something new! :)
