In 1999, Scottish Poet and playwright Carol Anne Duffy (Poet Laureate 2009-2019) published “The World’s Wife”, a book of 30 poems focusing how the women behind the men, viewed the events.
Smiling at the wit and nuances in here, all the way through. Poor Mrs. Noah, indeed yes when a man gets something in his head he wants to get done, there is just NO talking him out of it. I'd need to check out The World's Wife book, to check out the others. These tangents remind me of recent children's books that take a different perspective on a fairy tale. For instance, one is the three little pigs from the point of view of the wolf. Thanks for this, it was fun to read.
So creative and fun. Loved hearing your speaking voice too Joshua. Gosh you could get a job reading audio books for both children and adults... if you're ever bored on your island paradise that is... 😊
Thank you. With a mother from Liverpool and a father from Manchester, I was putting on my best northern accent for this poem. I also have my public school accent for other poems, and my 'Orson Welles' too. I do audio for the grandkids' books and they are always asking me to do funny accents.
Fantastic Josh! So unique. I loved the reading. Your voice just fits this so well. Yes, that damn snake. The boys forgot the unicorns as well! Carol Duffy has got nothing on you! I love your wit and how are you tie all together with future relationships, and all!
Ah, unicorns ... I should have fitted them in somewhere :( I cranked up my northern roots/accent for this one (me being a Lancastrian, mother from Liverpool, father from Manchester). Anyway, glad you liked it; of course Carol Duffy is a great inspiration, and her "Mrs Midas" is superb.

Glad you liked it. In "The World's Wife" you will also meet Queen Kong, The Devil's Wife, Mrs Lazarus, Pope Joan, and more besides.

Brilliant. What a gift.
How fun! :)
Thank you Shelly. Glad you liked it. Maybe I'll have a look through Carol Duffy's book again and think of someone else she missed out.

I really appreciate how you encourage new perspectives without judgment. Thanks for the thoughtful food for thought you've shared.
Thank you. It's nice to know when a poem manages to 'show and not tell', (if I've understood correctly that's what I did).
Wonderfully witty and so filled with delightful nuance!
Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it.
One of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets 😊 💕
That's a great combination then 💜
